Indoor Garden

It's cold and the houseplants were kind of sad. Decided to think of the plant stand as an indoor garden instead. Moved the shelves around, spread out the plants. Hoping it will be both more enjoyable and easier to water. I'm happier with it already. Now I just have to get the dieffembachia cutting to root.

My favorite pajama pants are no longer disintegrating in the middle.

Recycled Mittens

Eric lost one of the pair of his favorite mittens. I made a pattern from the singleton and took a trip to Goodwill.

These are lined with cashmere.

I think I'll make a pair for myself.

Doll diapers

Quick project: Baby Joey needed diapers.

I read this first, but made my own pattern:

Two Socks

There are two socks. They do not match. They kind of coordinate. Let's go with "complementary." There is no more gray and no more blue. There will be no third sock.

Problem solved

I have acquired additional yarn. There will now be one gray sock with blue heel and toe and one blue and white striped sock with gray heel and toe. If I get super ambitious there may be a third, white sock with blue heel and toe.

Hopefully, this lack of matching does not bother the small one too much. However, he is currently in the habit of pointing out things that are the same... I wonder if shape and function will be sufficient in this case.

Last week's progress

Redid the edge on my sweater so it's less curly (unpicked the cast off and redid it with bigger needles). I did this on the way to the Sheep & Wool Festival in Rhinebeck, NY. There's a grand knitter tradition of making a sweater specifically for this event, and especially finishing it on the drive over. So, even though I've been wearing this sweater for a year or more, I think finally fixing the edging on the drive over (I wove in the ends as we were driving to the fairgrounds) totally counts.

Before (edge curls upwards like crazy and blocking cannot fix it):

After (actually has potential to lay flat, especially if I blocked it with pins, which I haven't bothered with):

Also finished cloak for kiddo (hemmed and added clasp):

He won't wear it, but it goes all the way to the floor, so he has some time to change his mind before he grows out of it.
